A mixed day, yesterday at Pridewood; two modest-sized
carp to show for considerable effort, not that I'm really complaining! The pool was low and the sun high, and the carp appear to be gorging on fry in the sunken willow branches, the first common, though, was fooled by classic margin crust when the autumn mist
was still on the water. The second, one with the kinky spine, was caught on hunk of flake beneath a small sight bob; the bait being on the bottom, very tight against the knocking branches. This carp spat out a small live fish in the net! It had been rattling
the fronds of the old willow. Before then, line got badly behind the spool of my 410... Might be a tricky job. Luckily, I had a 300 with me. Compensation for mild misfortune? More than 50 swallows skimming the pool; saying farewell, and a red kite circling
overhead.
